Jamestown Information

Probably the most confusing part about visiting Jamestown is that there are two Jamestowns!

“Jamestown Settlement” (operated by the state of Virginia) is a re-creation of the actual site which is about half a mile away from the spot where the settlers actually established their fort. The other Jamestown referred to as “Historic Jamestown” (Operated by the National Park Service - part of the Department of the Interior) is the actual site of the landing in 1607 and contains the original ruins from the settlement.

“Jamestown Settlement” will be the center of activity for the 400th year celebration although there will be commemorations at “Historic Jamestown”.
