Bike Jamestown

If you enjoy bicycling bring them. You can ride the Colonial Parkway which leads to Jamestown. It is about 10 miles from the center of Williamsburg to Jamestown (both of them!). There are a few small hills that might be a challenge for the novice or for young children, but I am 60 and ride it almost every day. Ride to Williamsburg - have breakfast, read the paper - and return :)

Also, there is a paved bike path that leads directly from the “Jamestown Settlement” and ambles its’ way for several miles through the woods and fields that adjoin Jamestown. It is flat and in the evening it is quite likely that you will see deer feeding in the field and geese and ducks in the marsh areas. It should be really pleasant in May-June before the Virginia summer brings on the heat and humidity.

An additional section of paved bike trails is supposed to be completed that follows Route 5 for another 10 miles. As of January only parts have been paved and a bridge needs to be completed, but the local news is that it will be open in May.
