Ride a Ferry Boat
If you arrived early for the Jamestown 400 celebration, visited the sites that you’re interested in and want to take the children or yourself away on another adventure, try a ferry boat ride. This is a picture of one of the ferry boats. As you view down the road, Jamestown Settlement is about a quarter mile away. You can walk down the road and ride the ferry to Surry and then return. Its about a 30 minute ride one way and you will be on the James River and pass by the original Historic Jamestown. It will obviously have a lot of cars on board, but there is plenty of room for all and it is a pleasant trip. Bring some bread crumbs to feed the seagulls and enjoy the experience, it’s free!
